Victor Sanders

Victor always wanted to be a vet. Growing up in Auckland, he loved the family dog and had an affinity with animals, but no experience of the rural sector. But through studying a Bachelor of Veterinary Science (BVSc) with Massey University, he benefited from lots of practical on-farm experience and now works for Vet Services Hawkes Bay as a mixed animal vet.

Maatu Akonga

Maatu is the leading hand at Llewellyn Horticulture in Clive and won the inaugural Ahuwhenua young Māori grower in 2020. A career in horticulture has been a fulfilling experience for Maatu - who has been able to complete on-the-job training while climbing the career ladder.

Hannah Wood

For Hannah Wood, studying food technology at Massey University was the gateway to a successful career as a master gelato maker! The owner of five ‘Little Lato’ parlours has had some pretty memorable experiences working in the food industry - including studying at the Gelato University in Italy!

Olivia Jordan

Olivia grew up on a dairy farm just out of Te Awamutu. After initially intending to study music at university she switched to her other passion - science. Now she works as a technical team lead for DairyNZ, her dream job.

Sam Bain

Vineyard Manager Sam Bain grew up and still lives and works in the sunny Hawke’s Bay. He absolutely loves the variety of his job - every day presents different challenges ”I don’t want to sit at a desk all day”. He carries a lot of pride at being able to contribute to NZ’s thriving wine industry.
